Real Estate Office Manager Pleads Guilty to $1.12M Embezzlement

VENTURA, Calif. – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Dana Hiscock Vines (DOB 11/16/61), of Thousand Oaks, pled guilty to nine counts of grand theft and special allegations.

Vines, a longtime office manager for Aviara Real Estate, embezzled $1.12 million from the company between 2007 to 2020. She used company funds to pay for personal credit card expenses, bonuses, and health insurance benefits for herself and her children. Vines entered her guilty plea on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, and is scheduled to be sentenced on January 5, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 23. The defendant faces a prison sentence of up to 14 years.
